Add Zenvi to your WordPress site

WordPress doesn't have a single official way to add third-party scripts, but there are two common, reliable routes. Use whichever one you're more comfortable with, you only need to do this once.

Step by step

1

Option A: use a header/footer plugin (easiest, no file editing)

From your WordPress admin dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New and search for a plugin like "Insert Headers and Footers" (there are a few well-reviewed free ones with similar names). Install and activate it. Open its settings page, find the field labeled Footer or Scripts in Footer, paste your Zenvi embed snippet in that box, and click Save.

2

Option B: edit your theme's footer.php directly

From your dashboard, go to Appearance > Theme File Editor (or Appearance > Editor, depending on your WordPress version) and open footer.php. Find the closing </body> tag near the bottom of the file, paste your Zenvi embed snippet on its own line just above it, then click Update File. If you're not using a child theme, keep in mind a future theme update can overwrite this edit, so Option A is the safer long-term choice for most sites.

3

Save and refresh

Save your changes and open your live site in a new browser tab (not the WordPress preview). Give the page a few seconds to load, then look for your chatbot's launcher in the corner of the screen.

If your host or security plugin blocks editing PHP files from the dashboard, use Option A instead, it doesn't touch any theme files.

Your embed snippet

This is the exact line you paste. Your real snippet has your own chatbot's widget key filled in automatically, find it on your live preview screen right after you build your chatbot, or anytime from your dashboard under Website integration.

<script src="https://app.zensebot.com/zensebot-loader.js" data-zenvi-key="YOUR_WIDGET_KEY" async></script>

Don't type this by hand, copy it directly from your dashboard so the widget key matches your actual chatbot.

Test your widget

Open your live site in a normal browser tab, not a preview or editor view, and give the page a few seconds to fully load. Your chatbot's launcher should appear in the corner of the screen. Click it, type a real question a customer might ask, and check that the answer sounds right. If nothing shows up, clear your browser cache and reload, or double-check the snippet was saved in the right place and that you're looking at the published version of your site, not a draft.

Still stuck? Email us with your site URL and we'll take a look, or open the chatbot on the Zenvi site itself and ask it, it's trained to walk you through this exact step.
